There’s a Lot to do on Saturday…But There’s Only One Place to Start NOW!

So you’ve been wanting to learn a new skill, or you have an inkling of an idea and would like to see if it has merit? Maybe you want to meet other creative people with big ideas? Perhaps you’re just inspired by stretching your imagination.

If any of those describe you, then by all means, don’t miss the free Start NOW Fair at the Charleston Civic Center this Saturday, October 27, from noon – 5pm. The Start NOW Fair is part of the Create WV 2012 Conference and promises to deliver more amazing inspiration, education and resources per minute than any event you’ve been too in a long, long time!

STATION A  - Tom Nelson: From Job Takers to Job Creators: Entrepreneurship Education  @ WVSU 
 
Before it’s over, Tom Nelson will have you signed up for one of many programs WV State University is rolling out to support entrepreneurs and the creative economy. Bring your business plan questions, Tom can answer them!
 
STATION B    Doug Imbrogno:  Making a Video in Real Time 
 
Got a smartphone with camera? We'll shoot a video during his presentation with your help -- -- and it'll be on YouTube later in the day. Douglas Imbrogno is video feature producer for the Charleston Gazette and founder of the WestVirginiaVille.com 'blogazine' and the forthcoming digital story site The WebTheater.com.

Social media and app maven Tiffany Finkton skillfully answers your tech questions about today’s most popular gadgets and apps! There are no stupid questions, so bring your gadgets and your questions!

STATION A  Laurie Helgoe:   Get it Published! 
 
Channel your inner book with a little help from our best known introvert! Laurie Helgoe, Ph.D., author of Introvert Power and owner of Book It! Consulting gets you moving toward your publishing goal. Writer’s block and procrastination are no match for this 20 minute power writing session!
 
STATION B   Steve Schmidt:  The Secret Life of a Cameraman 
 
A rare occasion to look at life through the lens of DigiSo Anchor Steve Schmidt.  Hear him talk about his work with MTV, Nat Geo, The Learning Channel, and others. Before it’s over, you’ll hear his version of what this place needs. We promise 20 minutes of insight into his quirky, fast-paced world. Funny, irreverent, pure Steve-O.

STATION A  Bill Gardner:  No Tech Hacking: Not Every Threat to Your Personal and Business Information Comes From Technical Attacks 
 
DigiSo Anchor Bill Gardner will show us how bad guys use non-technical means to steal data and what you can do to protect yourself and your business. Shoulder surfers beware-Bill’s making it harder for you!
 
STATION B   Patrick Felton: Digital PODiatry
 
Podcasting is quickly becoming one of the most important, most download, and most desired form of digital content on the web. Podcaster and new media maven Patrick Felton of the Charleston Podcast Project explains how this easy, free, and easy to download medium gives creators the tools they need to create and distribute their own audio and video content anytime, anywhere. Plus, Felton shows how to use podcasting to help facilitate a new dialogue regarding WV arts while also engaging a new generation of artists in content creation.
